Privacy & Cookie Policy
Marikenyo (“Marikenyo”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect through www.marikenyo.com, why we collect it, and the rights you have under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
1. Who is responsible for your data
Marikenyo is the personal information controller for data collected on this website. For any privacy question or request, contact our Data Protection Officer at privacy@marikenyo.com.
2. What we collect
- Waitlist details you give us: your email address, whether you are a diner, restaurant owner, or investor, the date you signed up, and the version of this policy you agreed to.
- Technical data: your IP address, used briefly in memory to prevent spam and abuse (rate limiting), and standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) kept for security.
- Emails you send us: if you write to us, we keep the message and your contact details to reply.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, payment details, or precise location on this website. The site is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
3. Why we use it (purpose and legal basis)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Adding you to the waitlist and telling you about the Marikenyo app launch, early access, and related updates | Your consent, given when you tick the box on the sign-up form |
| Following up with restaurant owners and investors who ask to hear from us | Your consent; steps taken at your request before any agreement |
| Keeping the website secure and preventing spam and abuse | Our legitimate interest in protecting the service |
| Meeting legal obligations and responding to lawful requests | Compliance with law |
We will not sell your personal data, and we will not use it for purposes unrelated to the above without asking you first.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the website, under obligations to protect it:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): hosts our website and database on servers in Singapore.
- Telegram: our team receives an internal notification (your email and sign-up type) when someone joins the waitlist.
- Authorities: when required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
Because these providers may process data outside the Philippines, we remain responsible for your data and require appropriate safeguards, as required by the Data Privacy Act.
5. How long we keep it
We keep waitlist data until the app launches and for up to 24 months afterwards, or until you withdraw consent or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days. After that, data is securely deleted or anonymized.
6. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted server access, least-privilege service accounts, and spam protection. No system is perfectly secure, but if a personal data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the NPC as required by law.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Privacy Act you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is processed;
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
- correct inaccurate data;
- have your data erased or blocked;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- claim damages, and file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission (privacy.gov.ph).
To use any of these rights, including leaving the waitlist, email privacy@marikenyo.com from the address you signed up with. We respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
We keep this simple: this website does not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies, and it loads no third-party scripts, fonts, or pixels.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
marikenyo-consent | Local storage (strictly necessary) | Remembers your choice on the cookie notice so we don't ask on every visit | Until you clear browser data or we update this policy |
Choosing “Essential only” or “Accept” currently has the same effect, because we use no optional cookies. If we ever add optional tools such as analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Marikenyo grows, for example when the app launches. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, notify waitlist members by email.
